Grey Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Blue Blossoms

This is an antique, cylindrical salt-glazed stoneware crock. The crock is a light gray or off-white color with a prominent thick rim around the top opening. It is decorated on the front with a hand-painted, cobalt blue slip design depicting stylized flower blossoms, leaves, and vine tendrils.

This piece is unmarked but its wildflower slip pattern identifies it as a classic early 20th-century piece made by the Western Stoneware Company of Monmouth, Illinois.
