This 27" x 5.7" 1" wooden architectural element was possibly a type of pediment or valance in a simple, unfinished form.  It is painted a light gray color, with an unpainted, natural wood edge visible along the bottom and a smooth finish on the front. 
  • Shape: It has a long, horizontal, straight bottom edge and a gently upward-curving top edge, with a circular cutout in the center. The sides taper slightly as they move outward from the center.
  • Purpose: The shape is typical of decorative elements used above windows, doors, or cabinet openings (known as a valance or cornice board), or possibly as an architectural salvage piece intended for refurbishment or a DIY project.
