Early 1800s Primitive Painted Folk Art Chair – Petite Wood Chair

A truly special piece of early furniture, this Early 1800s Primitive Painted Folk Art Chair is filled with the kind of authentic character that simply cannot be recreated.

The petite wooden chair features a wonderfully shaped back with turned supports and a decorative center splat, all retaining remnants of its beautifully aged hand-painted decoration. Faded florals, deep brown tones, touches of old green paint and generations of natural wear have created an extraordinary surface and patina.

The shaped wooden seat and turned legs continue the simple, handcrafted character of the piece, while the extensive wear speaks to its long history and years of use.

Today, this chair makes a striking piece of functional folk art and would be beautiful displayed in a primitive or early American interior, tucked beside an antique cabinet, used as an accent chair, or incorporated into a collection of early furniture and Americana.
