The Mustard Seed Collection, The Seed
1927 - The New Popular Pocket Webster Dictionary Book

This volume is a copy of The New Popular Pocket Webster Dictionary (such as the self-pronouncing editions printed in the early 20th century) bound in a unique, custom leather cover inset with an antique 17th-century heraldic playing card. The card featured in the central rectangular window depicts a set of four English coat of arms—specifically showing the crests for Bennet Ld Ossulston, Allington Ld, Stawell Ld, and one mostly obscured by damage—complete with a tiny "1" club suit symbol in the upper left corner. The surrounding binding features deeply textured, dark brown pebble-grain leather that frames the central artwork. The book exhibits heavy wear and structural deterioration, including significant paper loss and tearing on the inset card, exposed structural board underneath, and frayed, peeling leather along the left spine hinge.
