1950s Japanese Teapot with Bamboo Handle
Couldn't load pickup availability
This is a 1950s round, white porcelain teapot adorned with hand-painted floral motifs in orange, yellow, green, and white tones, characteristic of traditional Japanese Kutani or Imari ware. The central design features a large orange chrysanthemum accompanied by smaller white blossoms, delicate branches, and clusters of green leaves. An orange stripe outlines the base, the rim of the lid, and the edge of the short spout. A distinctive curved bamboo handle is attached to two porcelain loops on the top of the teapot via small metal rings, completing its classic aesthetic. On its unglazed base, the teapot features an iron-red square seal mark containing a stylized kanji character, a traditional signature method utilized by Japanese kilns and artists to authenticate their craftsmanship.
