This is an antique ironstone chamber pot, also referred to as a "slop bucket" or "slop jar". It is made of a heavy, glazed earthenware pottery known as ironstone, which was developed in England in the early 19th century as a more durable and affordable alternative to porcelain.
This particular piece has an off-white, cream-colored glaze and is decorated with a raised, ornate scroll motif around the rim and base. It features a wire bail handle with a wooden grip, which was a common feature for this type of pot. These pieces were originally used as sanitary ware before indoor plumbing became widespread, and are now popular as decorative items, often repurposed as planters.
